Jean and Adolph "Bucks" Weil
In 1995, the Special United Way Award (originally created in 1977) was renamed the Adolph “Bucks” Weil Award to honor and recognize Mr. Adolph Weil, Jr. Bucks Weil was all about community service. His philanthropic endeavors were of legendary measure. The care he showed to others was selfless, and his service to our community was unparalleled.
The late Jean and Bucks Weil were among the founding members of the United Way’s Tocqueville Society for leadership givers, which they faithfully supported for over a quarter century. Like Bucks, Jean Weil had a servant’s heart and a spirit that placed the wellbeing of others above her own. Jean was very active in the community, volunteering her time with many nonprofit and community organizations.
In 2012, it was with great honor that the River Region United Way renamed the “Bucks” Weil Award to represent the philanthropic endeavors and community service of both Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Weil, Jr. Their legacy lives on through the Jean & Adolph “Bucks” Weil Award, which recognizes persons or organizations for outstanding service and contributions to the community through the River Region United Way.
