Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund

Relief Funds Available

(Montgomery, AL) March 20, 2020 - We are living in truly unprecedented times that bring uncertainty in all areas of life. The Central Alabama Community Foundation and River Region United Way are collaborating to address the most vital needs of people across the River Region area of Central Alabama and the Wiregrass. In the coming weeks and months, our goal is to solve problems together and help people by providing needed resources to local nonprofit partners, equipping them to put their mission statements into practice.

Jointly, RRUW and CACF announced a $200,000 Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund to support nonprofit emergency response and recovery efforts in the River Region area of Central Alabama and the Wiregrass. The Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund will focus on 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and churches supporting basic needs and/or health and wellness efforts related to the COVID-19 emergency and its aftermath.

How Can a Nonprofit Apply for Funds?

Applications for the Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund opened April 1, 2020, and awards from the first grant cycle were made on April 15, 2020. Applications will be accepted and responded to on a continuing basis. Grants are typically awarded on the 1st and 15th of every month.

TRACK ONE: Critical Community Needs

Nonprofit organizations and churches providing programming to address basic needs and/or health and wellness efforts related to the pandemic and its aftermath. Grant requests cannot exceed $2,500 per organization's application; organizations receiving a grant may reapply for additional funds after expending the initial award, or for a different request, up to four awards.

 

TRACK TWO: Special Needs of Nonprofits

This Track is for 501(c)3 nonprofits whose organizational capacity to provide community services has been negatively impacted by the pandemic. Grant funding is available for projects that address unexpected infrastructure and equipment repairs, and/or necessary adaptations to operations to address COVID-19 best practices. Examples of adaptations include:

·         Implementation of technology tools for remote work, programming and special events

·         Addition of physical features promoting social distancing for staff and clients

·         Purchase of services and supplies to address facility cleanliness and protective hygiene for staff and clients

We encourage foundations, businesses and individuals wishing to support our combined efforts to join our organizations in this work. Gifts to the Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund can be made by mailing a check or giving online.
